Friday Favorites : February 2018

Vegan Banana Bread MG

So February is over and done with? Dang, that went by fast.

Hi, how is your Friday Saturday Monday so far? Thoughts on the rain? It hasn’t been here long enough for me to make up my mind. So, I guess we will have to wait and see.

That was Friday, I have already made up my mind, and I don’t like it. I don’t like it one bit.

Sometimes things don’t go as planned and random shit decides to go down. This post was meant to go up on Friday but rain and Kenya Power life happened.

So back to this Feb story.

Not much happened but it was a cool month. A very exciting month. That excitement spilled over into March and that is always a cool thing.

Let’s have a quick chat about Friday Favorites. This will be a monthly post about the things I have loved in the month. It won’t be like the taking stock but more of me just yapping my mouth (or fingers) about some of the things I really liked and why. Think of it as my favorite’s videos, only written.

Worry not it won’t be that weird. If it is, you can always tell me.

1.      My Vegan Banana Bread

This must be the 658494653rd time I’ve mentioned banana bread but imagine it is that good.

If you could ask the people who’ve had the chance to taste it, you’d understand why I have been going on and on about it. It might sound like the only reason I like it this much is because I am the one who makes it, but no.

This is one of those recipes I am super proud of.

Try it out then maybe next month we can compare notes.

2.      Clean & Clear Exfoliating Scrub

This has been my favorite scrub since I discovered scrubs.

When in the mood to try out other different scrubs, I do, but I have not found one that compares to this one. I had been using the Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Facial Scrub for a while but after it ran out, I went back to Clean & Clear.

They changed their formula a bit, but it still works as I remember it.

3.      Flaxseed Mask

First, this is a vegan mask… someone say winning.

This mask works wonders on my skin within minutes. It is one of the few masks with immediate results.

Quick remedies are not things I advocate for because it always helps to understand what the underlying problem might be. A detailed post on this mask will be coming soon.

Yes, it is that good, it deserves a whole post.

4.      Micellar Water

I am sure your favorite beauty guru has probably told you this is a must have beauty product.

As much as I try not to buy into the hype, I decided to give this a try and to be honest, it is worth the hype. Especially for those of you who feel like taking makeup off is the worst thing in the world.

Micellar water helps eliminate ant makeup residue left over by your cleanser or makeup wipe. The best part is probably the fact that you don’t have to rinse it off.

5.      Cement

Yes it reads CEMENT.

This must be a weird inclusion but I have been loving cement for the past month. I have been molding different plant pots out of it and I am still making more. Different shapes and sizes and you can paint them or leave them as they are.

The creative control cement gives you is to die for. I will be sharing some pictures as soon as I am done with my entire project.

6.      Our Bedroom

Our bedroom just got a makeover and it looks dope.

You have no idea what a fresh coat of paint, new sheets and some framed pieces can do for your positive vibes. I have been through some tough times and I needed something new.

This was more for me than anything else. And with that fresh coat of paint, all that shit is erased.

It feels great to walk into that room every night.

7.      Kimono Sweater

No, I am not replicating my taking stock post.

You just don’t understand how amaziiiing this sweater is.

It feels like wearing a cape every time I have it on. It compliments a lot of my outfits and as if that is not enough, it actually keeps me warm.

Talk about a triple threat!

My plan is to stock up on a few more kimonos by the end of the month. I am digging their vibe.

8.      Black Panther

It doesn’t matter what anyone says, no one can spoil this movie for me. I LOVED this movie.

I landed in Wakanda before most, set up camp, settled in and I am not moving. Being among the first people in Kenya the world to watch it, was a great privilege. The Wakanda in me was alive. I will not say any more.

9.      Django Jane

She’s always been here to slay but yo… this one is everything. Punchlines. ✅ Metaphors. ✅ Content. ✅ The video. ✅ ✅ ✅

I honestly can’t get enough of this song. It gives me so much life. It is everything.

10.  Love and Hip Hop New York

Love and Hip Hop has been my jam since day 1. I used to make my movie guy hook it up soon as I knew a season was out. As much as the cast has evolved over the years, Love and Hip Hop New York has always been the best out of the franchise.

Remy Ma’ is out here schooling y’all and I honestly can’t get over Judy’s level of petty. Bringing Safaree to NYC was a great move.

No, it has nothing to do with his coconut slathered body nor his disco stick surfacing online.

Muthoni Gitau
Hey there... I'm Muthoni - a quirky Kenyan girl with a serious love for DIYs and a (not so) slight color obsession 😉 Welcome to my world where I share my thoughts on everything I love or find interesting, live the best life I know how and always give my honest opinion!
