Listen

Dear whoever the hell is listening,

Tell me the pleasures of being a Kenyan citizen

under people who know nothing but oppress.

Looking out for self in the name of a nation suppressed.

Make me understand why I don’t feel safe at church nor my own living room.

Dear whoever the hell is listening,

I said tell me the pleasures of being a Kenyan citizen,

when certain some ones, somewhere care more for their allowances

than their starving constituents.

When kings and queens use their rooks and bishops to distract their pawns,

And yes that’s you!

So dear whoever the hell is listening,

if all you ever do is listen,

why would you ever expect change?
